In a gist, Rosemary DiCarlo, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, said that "NATO wants to see that Albania has a program of reforms that is embraced by everyone" !!! Ok so it doesn't sound too crazy now does it? Well, the country this lady represents has not had consensus on ANYTHING for as long as it's been in existence. And since I get my news from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - a few days back Congress could not even agree to DISCUSS a particular item .. let alone agree on the item itself .. And now the US demands that everyone agree on the REFORMS before Albania is considered for NATO membership. These are reforms godamnit .. and plenty of people have every right to oppose them ... Well enough with the carrot ... show us the stick! This administration seems to be able to do at least that well.

US Senate to consider draft bill in support of Adriatic Charter countries' NATO bids

WASHINGTON, United States -- A draft bill backing offers of NATO membership to Georgia, Albania, Croatia and Macedonia was submitted to the US Senate on Tuesday (February 6th). The document was prepared by Republicans Richard Lugar and John McCain, along with Democrat Joseph Biden. The draft resolution suggests that accepting the four countries in NATO would strengthen security and stability in Europe, and stipulates the exact amount of US financial assistance each would receive to help implement defence and political reforms. Sipas DiKarlos, thelbësor është mirëkuptimi ndërpartiak, për të mundësuar kryerjen e reformave dhe procesin anëtarësues të Shqipërisë në NATO. "Jam shumë e gëzuar, që një marrëveshje për zgjedhjet u arrit me konsensus dhe ajo është çështje e rëndësishme. Për të gjitha çështjet e rëndësishme duhet konsensus dhe kjo është jashtëzakonisht e rëndësishme. Duhet të ketë një vizion të përbashkët për të ardhmen e vendit. Reforma e vërtetë e vendit do të ndihmojë të gjithë qytetarët. Nevojitet ndërmarrja e disa reformave, ku zgjedhjet e ndershme e të lira janë të rëndësishme, çështje që kanë të bëjnë me shtetin e së drejtës, gjyqësori, lufta ndaj krimit të organizuar e korrupsionit. E rëndësishme është ekzistenca e një konsensusi midis partive, për çështje që janë të rëndësishme për tërë vendin. NATO kërkon të shohë që Shqipëria ka një program reformash, që është i përqafuar nga të tërë",- tha DiKarlo.
